March Prize!

3/4/2014

Our March winner is Ken, who presented his first ever crepe yarn in a paella pan :)

Everyone who entered sent in something unique and interesting, and it pains me to award prizes randomly - but otherwise I think my colour sense would probably influence me too much!

However, this month, I think Ken really put the hard yards in with a 3-ply yarn, part of which was hand-dyed by himself. Crepe yarn is quite hard to handle as I found out for myself this month. If we beg, maybe Ken will send a close-up so we can examine the structure of the yarn.

The fibre is HW Haunui Handcraft NZ Halfbred in Lake Sumner and dark grey, overdyed with two different dyes to get a deep red. Some of that fibre was blended with mohair to give a light fuzz to one of the singles.

Ken bought his fibre for the Ravelry Sweets of the Wheel group's March Madness spin along. Everyone got an identical parcel containing Lake Sumner over light grey,  undyed dark grey and 40gr mohair locks in Orchard. The 'Sweeties' have been madly spinning away and I look forward eagerly to seeing the FOs, which are all due in by 31st May.

Pink Cloud is open now for April entries...please don't be shy!
