Welcome to Heavenly Wools

New Zealand hand-dyed wool for spinners and felters

Create your own 'heavenly' wool items from my exciting colour range!
Heavenly Wools brings you unique hand-dyed colours of merino wool from the heart of Canterbury, New Zealand.
Working from my home, a tiny church in North Canterbury, I have developed a range of unique, exciting colour blends. I’m always testing new ideas, so keep an eye out for future developments! Visit the online shopping area to find out more about buying wool from Heavenly Wools.
Important Updates! Make sure you check the What's New column to the right to find out what's been happening on the site and even in the real world!

Wool for Spinners

The soft gradations between colours make Heavenly Wools fibres perfect for one-of-a- kind handmade projects. Choose from:
JUST IN STOCK! Beautiful fine, lustrous Haunui Handcraft Wools NZ Halfbred in four base shades, overdyed with any of my colourways.
22 micron combed merino tops. A superior tops preparation. Spin or felt; very easy to spin.
19-21 micron South Island merino sliver, carded and gilled (not superwash treated). Wonderfully fine and soft fibre, but contains some noil, short fibres and vegetable matter - spins up slightly textured.
See my hints and tips pages for spinning  technique ideas - thick and thin felted yarn, and a navajo plying video!

Wool for Felters

Scrap scarf detail
My Merino slivers are suitable for wet felting and needle felting - non-superwash, carded and gilled. Choose from 19-21 micron merino, carded and double-gilled or 22 micron combed tops - great for soft, drapeable scarves, mitts, fine jackets and even baby clothes! See my project pages for or felt gallery for ideas. Check out the hints and tips section for basic feltmaking info.

Heavenly Wools slivers are great for needle felting. Check out my single colours for a range of semi-solid options, or buy a mix and pick out or mingle shades!

Heavenly Wools fibres are small-batch dyed, so no two batches are identical, although shades are always very close between batches. Wool is available in 100gr multiples.
Visit the Colourways page to see the variety of colours available, and to

Custom Colours

Picture
Sometimes the listed colours just don't fit the bill.
I needed a dark tone to set off the beehive coils of this Bromeliad colourway spun in Corriedale. I amped up the saturation of Earth and dyed the very dark chocolate brown seen in the finer ply.

If you have a special colour in mind and you don't see it here, ask me about a custom colour. This is a free service, so don't be shy!

Bought wool from me? Please let me know how I did - go to the 'Help Make Me Better' page and fill in the survey form. It'll only take a minute! The survey form is completely anonymous.
